2024, OUR YEAR OF "POSSIBILITY" TOPIC: DO YOU KNOW YOURSELF? – Part Four AUTHOR: PASTOR JOYCLEM AYO OLAKUNLE. SCRIPTURAL READING: ACTS 19:14-16 MESSAGE: The word of God says “And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded” (Act 19:14 -16).
The scripture says “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small – (Proverb 24:10). The children of Sceva lack the spiritual strength to dethrone the demon that was in the life of the man in question because they were not connected to the Lord that uphold all things by the words of His power. The bible let us know that their father (Chief Priest Sceva) was from the lineage chosen by God. He was a Jew, it means that these children were from the family where they are supposed to know and connect truly to the Lord of Lord and the King of Kings. Moreover, their father was the High Priest at that particular time and his children supposed to know whom they were. Unfortunately, the children of Sceva could not answer the question asked them by the evil spirit that possessed the man. Because the children of Sceva were far from the Living God and were not connected to Jesus Christ, the evil spirit leaped on them, overcame them, prevailed against them and they fled out of that house naked and wounded. In our generation, there are several techniques that the devil is using to ask this same question from people. It may be in the area of health, marriages, finances, ministerial assignment and so on. Majorities are wounded, naked and in great torment because they did not know who they are in Christ. This crucial question “Do you know who you are”? It was a life question asked by evil spirit but the sons of sceva were confused because they did not possess what it takes to arrest the situation. A man that has left the original state where God placed him due to his involvement in sinful lifestyle should not bother to engage in confrontation with the enemy in battle otherwise he will have sad story to share. Surrender yourself to Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Lord and Personal Saviour.

PRAYER POINT: O God help me not wander away from the path of truth and freedom. Let your grace uphold me to be victorious over temptations.
